Atmore, Alabama Ghost Tales It has been told that at midnight you can park your car on the sardine creek bridge, turn it off set the keys on the dash board open the passenger door wait five minutes and your seat will be wet from the woman that haunts the creek. I've not tried this personally but I have seen the apparition or spirit of a woman and it seemed like she was walking on the water under the rope. Lets just say I got out of the water that night and haven't been night swimming since then. I'm not the only one that seen her that night either. There have been loads of occurrences with beings from the other side. The ghost of a young-looking female having on a blood-splattered wedding dress is every now and then seen by Marshall Patterson Dam before dawn staring at the water. The ghost of a 10 foot high huge person may occasionally be seen mid stream in Dry Branch screaming   people's names. Many locals argue this ghost loves frightening unwise people who come trying to find ghosts in Atmore. The ghost of a lady with half her head not there was noticed exploring Little Sandy Hollow in detail on a dark night. When the observer came into sight the ghost ran off. A form with a skeleton face dressed in dark robes was observed hauling a dead body over rocks in Bachelor Field late at night. The arrival of the observer scared the phantom who then faded away. A female having a machete in her head emerged posting an envelope at an Atmore post office. The ghost talked about avenging an assassination. The phantom of a youthful Indian warrior was observed articulating into the night as if someone besides was in attendance. The eye witness got freaked out and fled. The ghost of a brawny lumberjack gripping a big axe was distinguished piling stones quite near Claude D. Kelley State Park. The ghost didn't seem to be agonized by the observers. The creepy ghost of a Hun has often been made out peeking through flat windows in Atmore on a dark night.
