A form with a skeleton face dressed in shady robes became visible down near Barefoot Spring very late at night trashing an object. The ghost did not appear to be worried by the observers. A drifting spirit was seen searching for a book by The (historical) Pocosin. The ghost greeted the witness. The spirit of a young Indian combatant came into view wandering through a Brundidge area burial ground. The phantom was swallowed by the night after being seen. The ghost of a strong lumberjack clutching a large axe was witnessed hanging out in a deserted house in Brundidge. Being frightened by the onlookers the ghost withdrew into the shadows. A local man claims that this ghost may be a famous days gone by native of Brundidge.
