Carrollton, Alabama Ghost Tales

The original courthouse burned down and everyone blamed Henry. He was a rowdy man who lived out in the county. He was arrested and locked in the attic of the new courthouse. As a thunderstorm was rolling in, a mob gathered outside demanding that Wells be turned over to them. As Henry peered through the garret window at the mob outside wanting to kill him, a lightning bolt struck the window, killing Henry. From the strong electrical discharge, Wells' face was etched into the glass. No amount of cleaning has been able to remove the face from the pane of glass. It is still there today at the Pickens County Courthouse with a smiley face and arrow pointing at where the face is.

This is by far one of the scariest towns in America!  We stayed at the local B&B (which is about ten feet away from the county jail and a hundred feet away from the haunted courthouse), and it was definitely haunted.  We stayed there only a couple of hours.  We both heard numerous noises. We decided to turn off the lights

and get in the car and head home for the night.  We turned off every light in that place.  We got in our car and turned out of the driveway to see every light in the house including the huge chandelier in the front was on.  That was enough for us!  We were out of there!.
