Cordova, Alabama Ghost Tales | |
|
In the late 1960's a carload of cheerleaders and one of the girls' mother ran off into the river at the old bridge coming into town from 78 Highway near Dora. They'd just left the football game at Cordova High School. They were Corner High School cheerleaders. The tale is that the bridge was out and a new bridge was being built, and some teenagers pulling a prank moved the ''Bridge Out'' signs from the road, and they drove right into the river. All but one girl died, and they dragged the river for days looking for the girls, and the mother who was driving. They say at the same time around 9:30 to 10:00 P.M. at night you can hear the girls crying for help on the banks of the river where the car went in. Submitted by Kathy Categories: cars, bridge, lady
