Highland Home, Alabama Ghost Tales

The story I heard was that she was a witch and her husband had her hung by the bridge (at the time it was a wooden bridge). I heard that if you go to the bridge you can sometimes see her or feel her presence. Also her grave is supposedly ''watched'' by night watchers and if you dare enter the graveyard you will be cursed. A friend of mine said she stepped on the grave by accident one night and felt a burning sensation in her foot. There is also a house up the road from both the graveyard and bridge that is supposedly haunted by her spirit as well. It is said that is where her house stood and when they tore it down to build a new one that workers started leaving and being hurt by invisible forces. The house is in a field and can be seen from the road. It is a house that was never finished and it is a bit odd that someone started building a house and never finished. I don't know how accurate this story is but that is the one I have always heard. I live in the area.

First off, great directions. No one could ever find this bridge unless they knew the area well. 2nd... Mary Daniel, of Crenshaw County died in 1911... there was no such thing as a car seat.. plus, she dies when she was 64... doubt she had a baby...

For those of you that wont a real ghost experience go to Mary Daniel Bridge. It's a dirt road off of Mothershed dirt road. Mary was traveling down this road and went off the bridge into the creek below with her child that was still in a car seat. The car sank and she could not free her baby. She can be seen and heard around midnight and sometimes just before calling for her child. Sit on the bridge, turn off you're vehicle and listen. Its not something that happens a lot but if you're lucky you'll know it. Its real to me and any one else that in Highland Home that's experienced it. To make it even better her graveyard is approximately 100 yards up from the bridge in a small graveyard. So check it out.
