I left Early this particular morning since the road was being repaired and the detour took me a few Miles out of my way to work. About 6:10 am while it was still dark I came around the curve and over a small hill. To my left I saw a little girl standing right beside the road on a driveway. It was     very dark and no lights were on in the House or yard. Of course I slowed down to below the speed limit. As I passed I could see her very clearly and it didn't appear at first to be abnormal. I thought she must be waiting on the school bus. After passing her I realized that she wasn't wearing a jacket or carrying a backpack or books. It was 23 degrees that morning and for a little girl to be standing out in the cold dark like that sent chills down my spine. I continued to pass that way every morning for several weeks while the road was being repaired. Even   (continued on the next page...)
