Selma, Alabama Ghost Sightings
I'm not from Selma, but I lived on Lawrence Street off of 1st Avenue. I work at Pilliod furniture factory until they closed down. While living in that house, I went in the back yard at about 2 am to smoke a cigarette, and I saw something that changed my life and made me love Selma! I didn't want tell anyone then because I thought people would think I was crazy. After 2 weeks I told my girlfriend. Her grandmother told her that she saw them when she
was about 12 years old, and they were called the 7 sisters of Selma! I will never forget them!.|

I live in a house on King Street in Selma, Alabama. The house was built in 1898 and is known as the Stewart-Holmes manor. We have lived in this house for about five years, and since the first night of moving in we have experienced many strange happenings. The first night we moved in we had boxes filling the ''grand ballroom. '' Around 1:00 am, my husband and I were awoken by the sounds of heavy footsteps walking around the boxes. The sound reminded me of the sound the shoes the nuns would wear in my grade school. We went to look and found nothing. A couple of weeks later my husband and I found that every time we would try and get intimate, our bedroom door would open. After several nights of this, my husband went out and bought a hook-and-eye latch for the inside of our door. That night we once again started to snuggle, and we saw the door try to open. We lay still for a moment, and it stopped. When we resumed our snuggling, the hook and eye latch on the door rose up, and the door flew open! Needless to say, this scared us to death.
About a year after we moved in we went under the house to fix a water pipe. When under the house we found several old bottles and mason jars. We also found several crosses made out of chicken bones (our dog started digging these up in the yard as well) and some old marbles. I thought it would be neat to showcase these marbles in the house, so I cleaned them off and put them on display in my kitchen. After about two days on display the marbles turned up missing. I asked my kids and husband if they had moved them, and they all said no. When we went back under the house, we found the marbles exactly where we had first found them. I again removed them and put them in the house, and again they disappeared after a few days. This went on for about six months until I said enough and left them under the house.
A shadow of a woman in a long dress can be seen moving in my kitchen. As I have a habit of forgetting to close cabinet doors, you can hear cabinets shutting in the middle of the night. My young son has the old servant's bedroom. Since he was a toddler he would tell us that his friend ''Bear'' would keep him up at night playing with his toys. I never allowed toys in his crib, and on many occasions I would go into his room and find toys (that were in his closet) in his crib with him. I stopped buying battery operated toys for my son or even wind up ones because they would start going off in the middle of the night. We have had balls bouncing by themselves, doors open and close without any windows or AC on, and a bluish orb that likes to dance around. Several people have witnessed these things, and I have a lot of family member that will not come to visit because they have seen ''too much''.
