Cantonment, Florida Ghost Tales | |

During the early 1980's my brothers and sisters and I attended college in Mobile, Al. Since our home was in Jacksonville, Fl we frequently traveled along I-10 every time we had a school break. Along this stretch of interstate, there still remains miles of very lonely highway with no exits or signs of life, but in the '80's, some areas were just desolate. One night on our way back to Mobile, we were driving near Pensacola and were low on gas. We took the next exit which was the 0ld Cantonment Rd. The moment we turned onto this road we were creeped out because everything was so dark and desolate and there was no traffic on this road. We had not traveled far before we started to feel a sense of relief as we saw a car ahead of us. But there was something odd about the car....even as it continued to drive ahead of us, something just seemed a little askew. We could tell that the driver had no working taillights, but we did see some light coming from the car. It was not until we gained on it that we realized why. The car was driving along the shoulder

of the road and the car had a bluish white light all around it. We slowed a bit and then the car made an abrupt U turn in front of us, our headlights illuminating a completely bashed in car on the drivers side, from the front fender panel to the rear. And then we saw the driver and I know I screamed at this point, because the driver had the same eerie

bluish white glow about him and his face was terrifying. Turning around in the seat I watched this phantom car with its phantom driver drive away from us and then just be swallowed up in the darkness. As many times as I have driven past this exit in the intervening years since this incident, I have never driven down this road again.

You may assume that Cantonment, Florida is exactly the same as any other city in the United States, but this is a city where the undead stagger the residential roads at night. Many spirit stories have been passed on by the residents. Several residents assert these descriptions are untrue, but the spirits of Cantonment are out tonight searching for somebody to freak out.

A guy lacking a head has every now and then been distinguished searching for a picture next to a parked pickup in a Cantonment parking lot in the early morning
