Comment by Leo: Yeah, I've heard H&M is haunted and that disembodied footsteps are heard inside late at night when nobody's there, and the back door opens and closes on its own. My parents are friends with the owners of the restaurant in the shack next door Rollout Sushi. It's where Java Shack used to be. The owner said that that place is also haunted because one day the front door opened by itself, and it doesn't open easy at all. It opens from the inside, and nobody was anywhere near the door when it happened. I haven't actually seen anything happen. Maybe one day though.

This was several years ago.. But I have been raised in DFS since about five.. I am now over 30. I was on a date for the first time with this certain guy. I was 18. We had a normal night. We went out to eat and then had sat at one of the local small parks in town to talk for a bit before calling it a night. I was taking him home and was driving north on hwy 83. He lived up by Gaskin. On the way to his house.. I thought I was going to have a heart attack.. Because I saw a floating black figure in a black cape. It had no face.. No arms.. No legs and was floating near the edge of the road and dint move or seem to mind when the car passed by it. It took my breath to the point that I couldn't speak to say what I'd seen!! The guy I was with looked at me and said.. ''you saw that didn't you?'' Soo.. I wasn't the only one to see this.. Which is what I truly believe..was a demon!!.

Comment by Tracey: You do not know me but I am writing this email to you, because of what you posted and I do believe you. I was born in Geneva, Alabama and was raised in Defuniak Springs, Fl. I can tell you a story of when I was about 4 years old, one of my aunts was babysitting my brother and I, we were watching TV at the time, when the TV shut off and the porch light came on.
Let me say this, in order for the porch light to come on you would have to come inside and turn it on, then my aunt took my brother and ran into the other room-except me of course-which afterwards I was drawn to the front door and stood there, soon after that I heard a hideous laugh and then I saw two red eyes glowing and looking right at me, I was looking at a specter, it really freaked me out; I would have to say that no one else was on the property, but us three.
Then there was another time when It involved me and my grandfather was in the other room, suddenly I woke up to what appeared kneeling at the foot of the bed was my father, but my father was in Vietnam at the time, I was frozen with fear, let me just say that area in which I grew up was right off the road in which you travel to get to Defuniak Springs Fl. I would say this there were a lot of bizarre events that happened there, I have not been there in almost 40 years. I do believe you!!.
Comment by anonymous: I was pet sitting horses and cats out in that area. They were usually calm except for one night when I felt uneasy. Then my dog who I brought with me cried to get cone in their house was crying which was odd, and the horse started freaking out galloping at night I search with a flashlight from the inside looking out and saw two glowing eyes thought I was seeing things but my daughter saw them to I called sheriffs and they stood right next to it and it didn't really appear until they walked away. I told them it was staring at me again and they went to their car and then waited until I could finish caring for the cats and I left.
I would chalk it up to sleep deprivation or whatever but that doesn't explain the animals and the creepy feeling I got.
