Wauchula, Florida Ghost Tales

Back in the eighties, my uncle lived in a house in Wauchula that was haunted.  On many occasions, he would be awakened in the night by a disturbance and see an orb floating along the wall across from him.  He would watch the orb as it passed along the wall and into the back of his closet where it would go out.  One night he woke up suddenly and could not move a muscle.  He described it as feeling like the weight of someone was on top of him, holding him down.  He tried to scream and could only make a slight noise, which caused the release of what ever was holding him down.  I loved going over
to his house and hearing his stories.  They intrigued me.  However, his teenage son came to visit him one summer and became a little more than intrigued. His response to his dad's tales was, ''Let her
try to scare me, I'll burn her house down!''  Immediately, the shower came on by itself.  She scared him alright, he slept in a camper in the yard from that point on.  My uncle lived there for many years until he moved out for more space.  During this time, his new wife also witness the ball of light that sometimes danced along the walls, and he was never able to keep a cat.  The rumor was that a woman had been stabbed to death in the shower by her drunk husband.
