Claxton, Georgia Ghost Tales For nearly three years my family and I lived in a house, close to a grave yard.  One night my wife had laid down with my youngest son and I had gone to bed in our bedroom.  Approximately 2am I heard someone walking in our living room, I looked up thinking I was seeing my wife standing in the doorway in her night gown with a pillow in her hand.  It appeared that she had walked into the bathroom a while later she had not came to bed so I walked in the bathroom to check on her, she was not there.  I walked in the kids room to check on them, she was still laying down there and had never been up. During the time we lived there we had other sighting, an old man and old woman was spotted in our house, we owned an old record playing that would just come on by its self.  Thank God we get out alive. Night time is undeparted time in this town. Several       locals assert there are no spirits, but if you are courageous enough to stay an extra day in Claxton, you may perhaps distinguish a spirit for yourself. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A lady alight, carrying a fuel container is regularly witnessed in a Claxton flat. The ghost   of a young air force pilot has been spotted on one or two instances in Evans County Forestry Unit at midnight smoking a pipe. Folks here claim that this ghost is the ghost of a traveler that was killed while traveling through Claxton in the past. Regardless of what, it certainly is a bloodcurdling phantom that any reasonable person wouldn't want to come across. A young-looking girl in a bloody wedding dress can repeatedly be witnessed at Big Beasley Pond Dam in the early morning hours taking pleasure in the panorama. A woman with a bottle-green face can be spotted often becoming visible in a washroom mirror. One of the people who live here decisively declares that this ghost is that of a local resident who had a home here in Claxton before the present. The ghost of a mail carrier has sometimes been perceived resting on a sofa in a mobile home near Claxton. A guy's body with the head of a donkey has supposedly been seen on a handful of occasions howling in Barnard Mill. No matter what folks say, this phantom sure is bloodcurdling; one that you shouldn't go looking for.
