Milstead (located in Conyers, next to Rockdale Medical & Olde Town) is the site of an old cotton mill community founded in 1902. Frank Milstead founded the cotton mill, Milstead Manufacturing Company, on the site of an old Union Paper mill on the Yellow River. Milstead employed hundreds of workers in a community complete with its own housing, churches, schools, company store, and golf course. In 1960 Callaway Mills closed Milstead, but the area is still a popular historic site with bungalow-style homes (picture enclosed). I lived in one of these homes as a kid. This is where I encountered my first paranormal experiences. I remember being very afraid to sleep in my room which was in the front of the house. The mattress on my bed was picked up by some unseen force and thrown across the room. Needless to say I never stepped foot in that room again! My Mother has also told me stories about my ''imaginary'' friends I would spend hours talking to. She took a picture of me playing with one such ''friend'' and almost fainted when she looked at the developed picture (I've included the picture). Fast forward to the present, I am grown up and I still live in Conyers. I have encountered ''shadow people'' and native American spirits in & around my former home on Landmark Dr. I have also felt the presence of civil war soldiers on and around the railroad (Green St.) which runs through Old Towne Conyers. Other places of reported paranormal activity include: The Old Jail Museum, The Nancy Guinn Memorial Library (which is currently undergoing renovation, probably causing an increase in activity), Rockdale Medical Center (Day surgery unit- I have seen the ghost of an older gentleman sitting in the waiting room. His style of clothing appeared to make him look as though he were from the early 50's. He looked heart broken but when I tried to make contact he vanished). The old grave yard located across the street from Pine Log Apartments gives off a very eerie feeling. A man who works at the gas station beside the cemetery has told me he's seen lights/orbs floating around at night. I am very much interested in collecting more stories of paranormal activity here in Conyers, Georgia where I live. If you have any information, stories, or would like to go on a ghost hunt with me; feel free to e-mail me. Thanks and happy hunting! April: dollgrave@hotmail.com.

I am not acquainted with Georgia so this may be in the wrong place, but the Atlanta Constitution of January 27 1889 has a story on a haunted house near Madison or High Shoals, or Conyers, near the county line. The house was owned by a family and was dilapidated at the time of the writing, no one caring to live in such a haunted house. It's referred to as the Gober House and I can find nothing on it otherwise. Spectral travelers in buggies who disappear, that sort of thing. Submitted by S Moyers Category: home
A house on Willowgreen Court, Conyers, Ga. Used to live there as a child in early seventies. House was vacant for a year before my parents bought it. Little boy about 2 or 3 years old seen in mirror in hallway and sounds of crying in closet. Gone after about a year. After we moved out, many years later I ran into the family that bought the house after us and without mentioning anything to them, they told me house was haunted by a little boy in mirror. Presence was threatening to them

whereas it never was to us. Curious to know if new owners have problems like our two families did. But with both of our families, the spirit ''moved out'' after a year or two of making it's presence known. Submitted by Carrie
