I did not have a mother because she died when I was born and my daddy moved back Home to his parents so they could watch me and help them out also. There were no cars and the streets were always Busy with buggy's and wagons pulled by horses or mules. When it rained the streets smelled very bad and it was always hot in the summer time. I can     recall getting very sick with a fever and my throat Hurt really bad. I could not eat and daddy got a doctor to come see me. The doctor thought I was asleep and told my daddy that I was not going to make it. And then everything seemed to fade away. The next thing I remember is being a little girl who lived in Atlanta and then my mom and dad moved here to Douglas where I grew up.
