Fort Benning, Georgia Ghost Tales

My neighbor told me this weekend that she just moved from Bouton Heights and they had really bad things go on there. One night her, hubby, and son were sleeping in the bed and there was a loud harsh growl come from the foot of the bed! On several different occassions a man came out of her closet and then on other nights opened the closet and went back in. We live in Davis Hill, I just moved from Custer. Some mornings I swear I could hear hubby downstairs after he had came home from PT watching tv..I go down stairs and he isnt home. Weird! .

We lived on Rainbow Ave and had

several eerie experiences. The first occured while I was sitting in the first floor den. I was watching t.v when I heard a blood-curdiling scream just outside the house, near the window I was sitting
by. I went up stairs to make sure my mother was allright. When I asked her if that was her, she said she thought it was me screaming. We went over to the Neighbors house to make sure it wasn't her. It turned out it wasn't. To this day I still don't know what happened. Also, one night I was home alone and sitting in the den again. The den has a view through double doors of the living room and the front door. As I was watching t.v. I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. When I looked I saw something that froze me to the spot. My mother collects porcelin dolls(which is creepy enough on its own)
and had two mounted on wall stands by the front door. When I looked at the movement one of the dolls seemingly was pulled from the stand, came out to the middle of the entrance, flipped over and placed face up on the floor. There was no thump or crash that one would associate with a falling object. Needless to say I was terrified! I wonder if anyone else had experiences on Rainbow Ave. Beautiful houses, creepy place.

We lived in Custer Terrace and our door would open for no reason we would hear noises in the middle of the night.

I am writing to see if maybe I can get in touch with the woman who submitted the story of the ghost on Fort Benning Georgia in Custer Village. I currently live on Arrowhead Road as well. Though my husband has never seen or heard anything, just maybe felt as if someone was there, I believe there is something going on here. Every night I am here and he is gone working, I have horrible nightmares that no matter what I do I cannot wake up from. Sometimes I just wake up and cannot stop crying for no reason. Then lately, when he is gone, I wake up to hear something walking and dragging something down the hallway away from the bedroom to the front door. Then one night I woke up to a feeling as if I was being choked. I was wondering if maybe someone had an idea of what's going on or how I can find out. I tried looking up some history of this house but have so far found nothing. I was thinking that maybe somehow D. Holley we are in your old house. I am sure this being Fort Benning, that many things could have happened in these old houses or to the people that lived in them. Anyone please let me know if you have an ideas as to how I can solve what's going on here. Thanks.

My husband and I were stationed at Ft. Benning from Sept.99 until Sept.02 and we lived in Custer Terrace up on Arrowhead Road(for the last 2 years we were there). We had the tv shut off by itself, on 2 different occasions my dryer door popped open mid cycle(my kids thought that was cool), things getting ''misplaced''. One time my inlaw's were up for the weekend and we had gone to Wal-Mart and I bought some new baking sheets, well when we came home I placed them on the oven and we all went into the living room and hung out while we waited on dinner to get there. All of a sudden it sounded as if those baking sheets hit the floor, it scared all of us.  Me and my mother-in-law went to see what happened and the sheets were still sitting on the oven.  All I could say was I told you so. The scariest thing was the moring that my husband and I were laying in bed and were awakened to the sound of our wooden screen door opening, the front door being unlocked, closed, the chain put on, and then the footsteps on the hardwood floor(combat boots make a distinct sound when walking on old hardwood floors)that went all the way down the hall and stopped in front of our bedroom door. Until this point my husband hadn't witnessed many things, but that morning he layed in our bed stiff as a board wondering what was going on. It made a believer out of him and he has never second guessed any unexplained happenings since. I could list more but I think you get the general idea.

We do not see a ghost per say just strange things have been happeing in our home.  Such as my husband and I left for a little while to the store we came home and one of the three pictures we have hung on a wall in the kitchen was ripped from the wall.. the paint on these walls are so thick to where you would have to use the other end of a hammer to get the nails out of the wall and no one but my husband and I live here and we didint have neighbors at the time.  I thought maybe the broom slide down the wall and knocked it off but there was at least a foot of clearance so that was not the case.  our cabinets and drawers shut by them selves.  we recently got a dog and sometimes she starts acting so strange and will sometimes sit there and just stare up and there nothign there.  ummm tonight I had walked to the bedroom and my friend had her eye glasses on the table and I walked back out about 5 mintues later with my husband and one of the glass pieces from her glasses was on the floor.. im like it was just together not even 5 minutes ago and our dog was outside at the time.. so I have no idea. I think we need our house blessed. .

My husband and I stayed in General Bonesteel's home on Ft. Benning this past weekend for 2 nights. Both nights while in bed around 4AM I was violently shaken.
