Does everyone know about Gainesville Mill? This was an old textile mill on the south side of Gainesville that opened in 1901 and remained in operation for nearly 100 years. In 1903 a tornado tore through the Mill Village and destroyed the top two floors of the mill killing dozens of people including a number of children who were working on the 4th and 5th floors.
To this day there are plenty of people living in and around Gainesville who will tell
you that the mill is haunted, especially the 4th and 5th floors. When I was a kid my grandparents lived less than a mile from Gainesville Mill just on
the outskirts of the old Mill Village.|
One night while traveling over to Hancock Avenue to visit my grandmother I happened to take a short cut around the backside of the mill. The roads were dark and they were narrow but I had been through the area countless times and I knew exactly where I was going.
As I was passing across the railroad tracks I happened to notice a tall thin man dressed in black standing at the edge of the road. As I got a little closer
