The reason the Man turned mean was because he began drinking heavily after his wife ran off with another man. The reason the boy turned mean was because of his father. The kid had to survive some way and then was still murdered by his father later on. This happened Many years ago but no doubt this is an area where something evil and tragic happened and the souls involved     cannot find any peace. The House where the Man and boy lived was nothing but some kind of old shack anyway and that probably contributed some to the unfortunate tragedy.
