Every story has a beginning and an ending, and every house has a history. The haunted house west of where K-mart now sits was well known for its haunted past by the people of Corinth, and my parents were warned not to live there. The stories I heard were passed down to me by the people in my family who lived them. I don't remember a name being given to the old lady who lived and died there, but for some unknown reason I always called her Mary Anne. I believed she was buried in the old city cemetery in Corinth and had been preceded in death by a brother, her last living relative. She was the last member of a prominent Corinth family and had died alone in this old house which was later bought by a family who built a boat business near where the old house had stood. The old lady had lived pacing up and down the stairs gathering leaves from an apple tree and rattling doorknobs of her unsuspecting guests. In later years as I grew up in Prentiss County anything that could not be explained would be attributed to the antics of Mary Ann, an old lady from the past whom I never knew during a time in which I had not yet been born. Rest in peace Mary Anne and may your story yet be told.

When my family lived in the old haunted house west of Kmart in the mid 40s I was several years and moves from being born. As a child I began having dreams about an old house with wide steps in front and a long hallway that led to a room full of dark furniture that no one wanted to enter because of it's sense of eeriness.
This was the room where the old lady who lived there had died. The dreams reoccurred so often that I asked my older sister who had lived there as a child where this house was located. I was describing to her a house in which I had never lived but knew well from my dreams.
She knew immediately what I was dreaming about and where the house was located. She recalled walking down that same hall and being terrified of the room with the dark furniture. The feelings that I relayed to her from my dreams about this house were the same feelings she had when she lived there.
