ALIVE IN RUINS OF WINDSOR|
It's a breath taking view looking up at the Corinthian Columns that tower over the serenely peaceful home site that is just a memory of a time that is lost in history. Located in Port Gibson Mississippi, on the banks of the Mississippi River, construction started on Windsor Castle in 1859 and was completed in 1861 by its owner Mr. Daniell who died just months after its completion.
The house was complete with running
water and a fish pond on the upper deck of the house. The pond was filled by pumps that pulled water through leads pipes, and the water was heated by
the sun which was used for bathing on permitted days. It was a grand house and the envy of it neighbors, modeled after Windsor Castle in England, although the name Windsor was given by the slaves because of the sounds that the wind made as it blew through the veranda railings.|
I have photographed the ruins several times, but my last pictures leave me wondering is Windsor still alive? It was late evening in January when two shot of a bronze colored
