Benton, Tennessee Ghost Tales THE LAST PICNIC AREA COMING FROM 411 HIGH WAY TO RELIANCE, ME AND MY SISTER WERE SITTING ON THE PICNIC TABLE WATCHING THE WATER AND TALKING OVER FAMILY PROBLEMS. IT WAS IN THE MID SUMMER SO WE WAS THERE A LITTLE BEFORE DARK AND AS IT GOT DARKER. A MAN WAS STANDING AT A TREE BEHIND US WE CALLED TO HIM BECAUSE IT SCARED US. HE WAS IN WE THOUGHT A COSTUME BUT IN CIVIL WAR ATTIRE .AS HE COME CLOSER HE HAD A LOOK ON HIS FACE AS HE WANTED TO SAY SOMETHING BUT AS HE GOT CLOSER HE VANISHED. ME AND MY SISTER WASN'T SURE SO WE LEFT NOT SURE OF ANYTHING. A lot of ghost accounts have been exposed by the residents. Some residents claim these tales are lies, but anybody who has stayed overnight in Benton, Tennessee knows better. The ghost of a strong lumberjack gripping a sizeable axe has allegedly been distinguished on numerous occasions by Calhoun Bend attempting to seize something. A menacing skeleton may occasionally be spotted in Chilhowee Recreation Area at midnight contemplating. A local person asserts that this   ghost is the stressed spirit of a long departed Benton local resident. One thing is for sure, this is a horrible ghost that is rather not disturbed. A glow-in-the-dark human person was noticed before sunrise hovering across Boyd Bottoms. The appearance of the witness scared the ghost who then vanished. One of the folks who live here definitely asserts that this phantom is that of a local person who existed here in Benton a long time ago.
