Culver, Indiana Ghost Tales

I haven't heard of any of the above stories ever, however many a person living in Culver and many a passer through can verify the story of the little boy that haunts the Culver Cove Resort & Conference Center. The site of what used to be the old Ice house, it is said that a young boy in the late 1800's very early 1900's injured himself playing in the ice house, and froze to death in the late evening waiting for someone to come and find him. There have been several sightings of a young boy dressed odd apparel, unexplained noises and ''pranks'' such as moved files and doors that slam in the middle of the night, motion lights coming on in the hallways of rooms when the guest gets up to check there is no one there. I work at the Cove and my five year old daughter has on several occasions held conversations with herself, claiming to be ''playing'' with the boy. Other children of employees and guest have claimed the same. My favorite story was told to me by a security guard who claimed that on one evening him and our night audit person were sitting
in the security room whatching television when a balloon they noticed was floting in mid air in the lobby area, there had been a party in the ballrooms up stairs that evening, not wanting the balloon to pop somewhere randomly and probably a little board, it is quite slow in the off season in Culver, he decided to get the balloon as he walked out of
the security office and toward the balloon it started to float toward the hallway, as he got closer it floated at an unusual rate of speed and down the hallway, in mid air mind you, when he reached the end of the hall the balloon was lying on the floor he picked it up he realized that it was not a helium balloon. I also have had many an encounter with the young boy, while I have never seen him, it is not unusual for me to find things lying in a different spot than had I placed them seconds earlier, I have also on more than one occasion heard the sounds of terrible, eratic, and loud knocking on the walls outside my office when I look of course there is no one there.
