There's no ghost in the Maple Grove Cemetery or on Taylorsville Road in Bloomfield, Kentucky. This story was begun by a writer from The Courier Journal, who came to Bloomfield to interview Ann Humphrey about local history, in October of 1976. Mrs. Humphrey shared the historic account of the 1826 ''Romantic Tragedy,'' the story of Jereboam Beauchamp, his wife Anna, and Col. Solomon Sharp. When the story hit, it had been melded with the tired old urban legend, (roadside girl in prom dress who borrows sweater,) and used as a Halloween fluff story. Growing up in Bloomfield, I spent many a night in this cemetery, dusk to dawn, and nothing out of the ordinary took place there.
