London, Kentucky Ghost Tales | |
|
|
In 1965 my nephew and I were walking from my Aunt's house on Parkside Road in London, Kentucky. We went wandering down a desolate road between Wells Road and Fariston Baptist Church Road and came across a deserted house. We went inside to explore the empty old house and wandered into the kitchen where we found dinner ready to be served on the stove and the table completely set. The food had been there for years as it was moldy and hard as a rock. It was as if the family just disappeared off the face of the Earth. It was quite creepy, so we quickly left the kitchen and wandered upstairs. Every room was filled with cob webs and obviously hadn't been occupied for many years, except for one room. The last room on the left was a shocker. We went into the room and found fresh linens on the bed with the imprint of a body that had just been layig there. Next to this imprint was a pitchfork. It was the strangest, creepiest thing I've ever seen. We ran out of that house as quick as we could and have referred to it as the ''Devil House'' ever since.

After telling my story to my family and other old timers from that area, more facts came out about the history of that house. A family with 2 children lived there decades ago and suddenly disappeared one day. No one knows what happened to them. I've heard other stories about that house as I've shared my own with local residents. My dad's friend was

returning from a hunting trip near dusk and walked by that house and saw a strange creature running around the perimeter of the house, the likes of which he'd never seen before. He said it was going faster than anything he's ever seen. Another resident heard screams coming from the house and rumors of it being haunted were well-known to the locals back then. I spoke to another elderly resident from that area and she said that was the old Levi Jackson house. This was almost 50 years ago, so I'm not sure if the house is still standing, but there's definitely a haunted history to that location. Submitted by John Phelps
London, Kentucky appears the same as any other neighborhood in this country, but this settlement has bloodcurdling mysteries hidden in the shadows. The phantoms of this city don’t leave anyone unfrightened. People who have never stayed overnight in this city will let you know it's all myths, but the things that take place here in London during the night time will give you a good scare.
