Monticello, Kentucky Ghost Tales This story as told to me by my wife. We lived at 2 separate residences around and in the Zollicoffer area in 99. We lived in a trailer past the caution light on 90. Not long after we moved in my wife was home one rainy night when she says she saw a woman standing at the end of the sofa smiling down at her. When my wife went up the hill to the landlord to pay the rent for the next month she saw a photo of the woman on a table at the landlords house she asked about the picture and the landlady said it was of her mother. She had been struck by a car  in front of the trailer where she lived on a rainy day the year before. She had several sightings of a man with a beard dressed in a confederate uniform. She says she could see his face clearly.He would appear to walk from the kitchen past the living room down the hall and into the wall at the end .The wall at the end of the hall was always       cold to the touch. I mean ice cold! We have moved since, but I was able to download some civil war pics and she identified one pic as being the man in the hall. His portrait now hangs in its own place in the hallway of our new home. The undead are everywhere in this city as the local residents will enlighten you about. Not everyone believes in the descriptions the local residents tell, but chilling things sure take place here in Monticello during the night. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A woman with her right arm and right leg chopped off may be witnessed time and again mailing a package at a Monticello post office. One of the folks who live here strongly argues that this ghost gets pleasure from startling foolish folks who are courageous enough to disturb the silence in Monticello. A military uniform marching around with no body in it has now and then been noticed gulping regular unleaded from a fuel pump at a gasoline station in Monticello. The ghost of an appallingly scorched lady is from time to time noticed up on the top of Bartleson Hill trying to grasp something. The spirit of a train driver can once in a while be made out scrutinizing Aggie Hollow in detail at night. Several people say this ghost enjoys startling folks who come trying to find ghosts in Monticello. In any event, this is a hostile ghost that you don't want to run into at midnight.
