I lived in the town for several years and my mothers family is from the area. My Grandmother used to tell stories of how her father was on his way home from work one day and he saw a peg-legged woman with no feet dressed all in black walking in front of him. He ran through an alley and got in front of her to see her face and when he came through the alley in     front of her, she had disappeared. That night, a large portion of the town burned to the ground and it was exactly where the black peg-legged woman walked that day. Also, the same family were sleeping one night and a white figure came out of my grandmothers bedroom. Her mother asked her oldest son if it was him and he said, ''No ma, I thought it was you.'' The husband jumped out and ran down the stairway to confront the person but there was no one there and nothing disturbed.'' I went to school with a boy who lived across from the school yard.
