It was assumed the battle was near Clare as the British officer described the area as being ''along a river that turned into a Lake on a knoll overlooking the Lake'' or something like that.
It was a couple of years ago, and I'm paraphrasing. However, being there were no cities or major landmarks, the log records were kind of vague for our area, and the clash was always assumed to be in the Clare area based on how far the soldiers could walk in

a day and the general description. However, now with the find we made along Budd Lake these professors think that the clash actually occurred along Budd
|
Lake which is now in the city of Harrison. They do know that the British followed the Native trail which ran along Budd Lake.
They do know proof positive how far these guys could travel in a day and by the discovery of our find it is now almost a declared fact that the battle recorded in the officers log happened along Budd Lake in what is now the woodlot behind the White Pines apartments. That combined with the fact that the area was a hangout for
