Hubbard Lake, Michigan Ghost Tales My family and I stayed a couple of years at Sam's Place at the North end of Hubbard Lake, the lot just West of the Dam. I always had an uneasy feeling when going to sleep there. One day, my father and I were out with my children in the boat. Upon returning to shore, my Dad and I both saw an old Chris Craft type wooden boat onshore at the dock and wondered who had pulled up. Upon getting closer, we did not see the boat any longer. When asking my mother if she had seen it (she was at the cottage at the time), she stated in shock that she had seen the same type of boat there the day before buy didn't want to say anything to us for fear we would think she was seeing things. There were two other instances...one happened when my Mom felt a presence go past her in the hall way while she was in the bathroom (we were all out at the beach at the time), and another instance where she felt as if she was pushed down the steps. She was being extra careful because she has arthritis in her feet, so she was holding the rail and going slowly. Suddenly she fell down a few steps, where she broke her toe.
