Monroe, Michigan Ghost Tales

I, along with a group of people do investigations throughout Monroe County. Please visit, http://www.monroeparanormal.com/index.php to hear EVP's (takes time for them to load) as well as view pictures from investigations. Also, I made a video of EVP's that I captured at the River Raisin Battlefield/Museum. They can be heard at, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ek-AHRs4ArQ .

In downtown Monroe, there is an old paper mill that is said to contain ghost that will scream at anyone who dares to enter. The build is so dilapidated now that I advise no one to explore it, very dangerous.

The site of the the River Raisin Massacre is extremely haunted and many people, even driving by see a range of apparitions, such as women and young children running, Solders marching, or even scenes of the battle.

The ''hidden'' cemetery has had reports of phantom children walking among the tall graves stones and ornate tombs. The gates are lock after dark and trespassing is so common that the cemetery

has hired watchmen. DO NOT TRESPASS, YOU WILL BE ARRESTED. .

I know of someone living in Monroe who as a child used to go with his mother when she went to work as a cleaner in a hotel, he would sit and play in another room and
wait for her.  An elderly man once appeared in the room (although he didn't open or shut the door) and asked him why he was crying he said that he wan't allowed candy.  The man said ''go and tell them that 'Ezekel' said you can have some now or there'll be trouble'', so he went and said this to the lady looking after him, she went white as a sheet.  He returned to the room happily eating the candy but the man was gone.  Years later he found out that Ezekel was the former owner of the hotel who had died about 50 years earlier, nobody else with this name had ever lived or worked in the hotel (note I think I have the name right but it may be spelled incorrectly).  I'm no longer in touch with the person who told me this story so can't give any more specifics but I might go and have a peek on google street to see if I can find the hotel as I saw it myself when visiting.

The current home of the Monroe Community Players on Monroe Street in the downtown
area is haunted. I worked there when it was Jenny Vine's Coffee House. In the basement fragments of bone can be found in the dirt floor, and the shadow of a hanging man can be seen on the wall. A woman's voice once spoke my name after hours when there was just myself and our (male) manager in the building. There used to be a large mirror in the catering hall on the second floor that a woman in early 1900s dress would appear in, sitting at a table (this area is now used for practice space, and there are no mirrors, so I do not know if she has still been sighted). On the third floor in the attic (now used for prop and costume storage) things will move of their own accord, and if you change there you can feel eyes on you.
