Newport, Michigan Ghost Tales I've lived in Newport MI all of my life (46 years) and have never heard of, or seen a ghost. The rumor about an old indian burial ground at the trailer park site is not true. That pond they refer to was dug to extract stone for the building of I-275. County records show that no one has ever died in that pond. The pond has been dried up for years! The closest indian burial ground is 6 miles to the east, near Swan Creek, and only 4 graves are known to exsist there. No where near the trailer park. The area of the graves are where the mail boxes are and no houses have been but there, but the grounds just have a quiet and erie feeling to them, even if noises are all around. He shook his finger at me as if saying ''no no no'' and then he vanished into thin air. The man had a glass eye and had blood dripping out of his mouth. I started to scream and we drove away. We were by the big pond in Newport Farms. I lived alone which I feel some times is the best way to encounter your best sightings. I had just finished watching T.V. and was gooing to go to bed but had a strange feeling about slepping in the bed room. So I decided to lay down on the couch. But as I got ready to lay down and was almost in position some one, or some thing touched my shoulder. As I started to look up I saw a lady with blond hair dressed some what like a womaman from days of old.She continued to draw her face closer to mine as she gentely kept pulling me over. Well you can imagine what was running through my mind in my brief encounter. She then said in a very calm voice,''who is this? Well, I did what was expected and immediately jumped up. But she was gone. I didn't feel she was any type of a threat, infacted I just felt she was some what curious to who the new visitor in her home might be. Newport Farms is full of ghost late at night you can here and see them walking around. Many people have died in the ponds.
