Do some research please... The story of the pack house is a sad one. Mr. Pack was a lumber baron quite wealthy... There was a great fire and all the homes burned but he had men from his lumber yard pouring buckets of water from the lake around his grand house and saved it.
It still stands today as an historical site. He had one daughter named grace who stayed in the house when he moved to New York. Many say she haunts the house which was a a fine dining restaurant in the 1990's now it is under construction by new owners who bought it apprx 2 years ago.
Hopefully it will be open to the public and we can all visit this grand house. There are many stories about children haunting the house also... However I believe they are just that - ''stories. '' I personally wish I could go stay there a couple nights to see if any spirits are persent and ask them the real truth of this beautiful house.|
If your ever in Oscoda drive by it. It is right across from a Ford dealership in town. Look at the owl stained glass window that was brought back from Italy in the 1800's. Is is simply beautiful and it saddens me that rumors and stories are about because people like to make up stories.
If you have ever been in the pack house I would love to hear about it's charm and character so please post!.

Comment by Kim: I grew up in Oscoda. I had dinners there with my family as a child. Even at such a young age I loved its stately beauty. It was so beautiful, and I dreamed of living it. I saw it in January, and it saddened me to see it in such it such disrepair. I hope that someone will return it to its glorious state one day. It is truly an historical treasure.
