Big Prairie, Ohio Ghost Tales I have just recently moved from Big Prairie. I used to live in the little brick house in the middle of town. My Aunt and Uncle own this house. It was rumored, but not for certain that it used to be a one room school house, and very often children are heard giggling outside the house when all are at school. My aunt, when she lived there, would see a man in what she assumed was the suit a school teacher from the 19th century would wear. I absolutely hated the basement, and would never go down there. I always got a creepy feeling from a back room, and always avoided looking in that direction. You could hear banging on the pipes down there, and sometimes I would feel a hard push on my bed, like someone just kicked it. The strangest things that happened is when my mother heard my son call mamma, and he had left almost a half an hour before. Then she was laying in her room, and heard me say mom a couple of times, but when I didnt answer when she said yes, she opened the door and no one was there. She came to our room and said we were snoring away.       We had puppies, and one of them was in our room and stared at the wall and howled. The other puppies sat beside him and some howled while the others stared. Im not sure if it is an old school house, but in the laundry room is an old chalk board partially covered with paint with writing still on it, and there are some signatures on the wall with a date   of 1868. The only thing my aunt could find on any school house is that one was built on a hill so they could see when indians attack. I understand there used to be a bigger school house thats on the hill behind it, or used to be until it was torn down. Yes, I love Big Prairie, but it's scary at the same time. She looked to be around 10 years old. We caught glimpses of her many times during the years we were there. My Mother saw her most often at night when she'd catch a glimpse of her from the corner of her eye running through the house.
