Legend has it that there was once a young brown dog in Bloomingdale with the unlikely name of Stewart. Stewart befriended many of the children of the village and often waited with them at the bus stop at the local community hall. Years ago Stewart simply disappeared and was never seen again. It has been reported that on several occasions the misty image of a brown dog has been seen pacing back and forth waiting for the school

bus to return. When approached the dog simply vanishes. Young children have also reported seeing a brown dog looking in their bedrooms late

In nearby Gunyon Hollow,nearly 125 years ago, a peddler was found dead at his camping spot. His cause of death was never recorded. He was buried in the cemetery in Bloomingdale in an unmarked grave. To this day hunters report that when hounds enter the area
