I would like to say that I live near the recreation park in Bryan, Ohio. I will not give my name here on the internet, but I will say only that I've lived near Sumpter Field long before it was known as ''Sumpter Field. '' In fact, I was very close to both Ray Sumpter and his wife. They were good, godly people and cared for the Bryan community greatly. What I can say is that it is true that at Sumpter Field, one occasionally can hear the ''crack'' of a baseball

bat very late at night. My husband and I have been awakened at night by the sound of a ''ballgame'' at 3am.
I have known about the ''baseball ghost''

or ''ghosts'' for many years, but I always believed the ghost to be Ray Sumpter and not a coach Hug. I believe Coach Hug was a good man also, and it's true that he passed tragically. Still my instincts tell me that the ghost is Ray Sumpter and not coach Hug. Ray was a big man with big heart for Bryan. Ray would be the one to protect the baseball field if it needed protecting. Ray loved Bryan and especially cared for the Bryan City schools and the Bryan
