Clinton, Ohio Ghost Tales

I no longer live in Clinton Ohio but I can attest that something is not right with that town. Well, at least the building I used to live in 1986-87. If you know the town or village then you'll know where I am talking about. We lived in the building diagonally, accross the street from the fire depatment. Not too far from Clinton Elemantary School. My mom was single and had us five kids to support by herself and we had moved into this 2 or 3 story building, I forget how high. Any way it looked like a warehouse but there were actually a few apts. in the upstairs part. Now keep in mind 5 kids all under the age of 8 or 9 and the yongest maybe 1 or 2. This apt. was really odd in that it had a front of the building room which was our living room a room off of that with our beds and a kitchen and these rooms had very high ceilings and I remember my self being 6 or 7 standing on the refrigorator and still not touching the ceiling there was also a bathroom and a smaller room divided into a laundry room and 2 small bedrooms. We were prety tight. If
you came out our apt door, there was a long hallway to the right and a shorter hallway to the left which led to another apt. door. As you would go right down the long hall way to the stairs(and there was a lot of them) to the right again there was a short flight of stairs that led to what we were told as the ''Ballroom''. This door to the ''Ballroom''
was always shut locked and we were never allowed in. This apt. was always cold except in the sumer time when it was blistering hot, no A/C back then. Every morning as you can probably guess before school and on weekends our mom would make us breakfast usually cold cereal which was fine with me, and or a poptart. I hated when it was just a poptart, especially with out any frosting on it. So she was usually up first and we were shortly wakend by the sounds of other kids talking and drawers of silverware openning and closing and the chimes of spoons hitting the glass bowls. So one morning I hear the familiar sounds draws openning, things clanging and I get up to go eat.......nothing......Lights still off no bowls...no kids....who was talking then?.....Who was clanging things together???....Who was openning the drawers?....This happend on many occasions and it wasn't just me who it happend to. Ask any of my brother or sisters or even my mom.....Usually on sunday's my uncle Mike would come by. He was the uncle everybody liked and made you laugh
and pick and tease you but you loved him anyways. He was a mechanic so he was always wearing jeans and a tshirt of some kind and work boots and was not a small guy, 6ft1 or 6ft2 210-220 lbs. One morning I was asleep and I could hear the newspaper, this wasn't odd because quite often there would be a newspaper around the house and then I heard these boots across the floor. I jumped out of bed and figured uncle Mike was here!......Nothing....No uncle Mike no lights on or anything. No one was there. Sometimes we could even hear a piano being played from the hallway or from upstairs, from the Ballroom. Mu uncle even heard it a few times. He asked the land lady if he could go upstairs into the ball room to have alook around. I was excited because it had always been locked and noe one had ever gone up in there since I lived there. Well when we went in there there was a piano along with alot of other junk, light fixtures from the 20's and 30's and old furnitue and suprisingly, it was pretty wide open and it did kinda resemble a Ballroom. While we were up there, the piano did play a few keys. While we did not see it play, we did hear the keys played. A few months had passed and for whatever reason, I cannot recall, my uncle was living with us. He stayed in the room at the front of the building. The big room also had very tall, very old windows. I remember one evening after dinner my uncle was laying on the couch and one of the windows had fallen out on to him. We don't know why but we don't know why anything else happend either. To this day us kids and my mom talk about those things and how wierd it all was and we each tell about individual expieriences we might have had. So next time your in Clinton, Ohio on Main St. Just remember the warehouse looking building diagonally across from the firestation. It definitley haunted.
