Germantown, Ohio Ghost Tales

My dad was the caretaker of Germantown cemetery for many years. I did not believe in ghost until he got that job and started living there at the house. I then became a ''believer''. I was never afraid of cemeteries, I always thought they were cool. I still think they are but I do know that this particular cemetery and especially the house are VERY haunted! I can't even name all of the incidents we had there of ''friendly'' ghost and unfriendly ghost. The story of the civil war soldier is true but I have never seen him. I do know that it's true though because he would regularly visit my dad in the cemetery when he was working. He never bothered him and dad never knew why he appeared. He just did.

My experiences with the ghost were not in the cemetery but in the house. There is one room in particular that has a very evil presence. I would NEVER stay there by myself or with only one other person. Every time I did, that presence would manifest itself. It was fine if there was a group of people for some reason. It was really bad at

times with doors and windows opening and shutting all on their own. Usually slamming. Someone, or something would pace back and forth, back and forth across the room upstairs with heavy feet when their were 1 or 2 people there by themselves. Our dogs would look at nothing we could see and would growl and bark. We had other experiences too that were
  even more frightening.

I'm glad I do not live in that house anymore and I would never want to live in any house that is haunted ever again.

I grew up in Germantown and as a young kid I lived right up the street from the Florentine Hotel and spent a lot of time there.  This was probably 35 years ago before their big remodel, and my brothers and I used to shoot pool there and dine on their fabulous fried catfish sandwiches.  It was okay during the day when it was light, but if you hung around the Florentine at night, you didn't know what to expect.  Keep in mind that before the remodel, it even looked like a haunted house, very old and dilapidated. I've personally seen doors open and close by themselves and heard muffled voices and heavy breathing coming from behind closed doors.  Also loud banging of pipes from the basement area.  As a kid, you love that stuff, but looking back on it, it was pretty spooky stuff.      .
