Germantown, Ohio Ghost Tales - PAGE 2

Morning Star Road is a long, winding stretch of road off of Edy Road, off of Rt 4 by the tower in Germantown. A house caught fire one night in the late 1800's and at the time, this is the back woods, meaning very few people lived there. A meeting was in town, where the men were, and storm picked up out by this house in the middle of nowhere. The woman of the house opened the windows to let out the pressure and a strong gust of wind knocked over a kerosene lamp, setting the home ablaze with the children inside. As the woman ran from the home towards the village of Germantown, she heard her children screaming till their deaths. This drove her crazy, and frantically she ran into a tree and it either impaled her, or what I believe really happened was she broke her neck. Anywoo, the house is not there, just an old settlement, but don't go looking for it. You will be hard pressed to find it because it would be by now over grown. Its on private property and there are signs posted. Its a beautiful stretch of road, and right off the street, about

6 minutes from the Germantown Haunted Trail. Its a good road to tell a scary story on, and this story is true, you can look it up at the Historical Society in the village proper. Taking a drive out there is calming but confusing at night- there are deer and other animals that live out there and will be in the road at night- its windy and curvy.

The
Florentine Hotel is said to be haunted. Guests and employees have reported chandeliers knocking when no one is upstairs or the place is closed. Knockings on the wall, unexplained outages then, repowering of the electrical and lighting, and strange voices when in the bathrooms up stairs. The building is one of the oldest hotels in Ohio and Abe Lincoln stopped there very shortly once, on his way to Middletown, Ohio. I have never personally experienced anything there, and I have been there a handful of times. Its a great little place to stop and get a juicy steak and a drink, if you are heading down ST 725.

Valley View High School I believe was built in the 1960-1970's which makes it about 50 years old, give or take a few years. There is a curse amongst the high school students, at least when I went there, that every four years a student would have a tragic accident by car crash. Its always very sad to lose friends and classmates due to tragic accidents, and unfortunately this terrible ''curse'' seems to haunt the school once every several
years, only making us more aware of the short and precious time we have with each other.
Its said that one student of such an accident is scene in the Freshman hallway, late at night. Every senior year, a group of girls stay to decorate the school lockers or what have you, and around 1 am, or so, all of the girls had to leave the school, and was caught doing so on the cameras. They were walking the school ground, as many students in their position would, having run of the school, being their last year there as students. The old band/choir room, which was later converted into a wresteling practice room, had been locked after school that day. The girls heard doors being opened down that freshman hallway, turned to look towards the locker rooms and wresteling roooms, and saw the door being opened and then pulled shut tightly behind it. Not a problem, except this door is very heavy, and closes on a pump, meaning slowly. The girls were caught running out of the school, being that one of the only cameras in the school is in the freshman hallway, and out the front doors, scrambing to unlock them and to 2 cars, in the parking lot and speeding away, lights and purses still inside. What would make a group of teens freak out to the point that they would forget their cellphones, purses and sleeping accessories? When I first heard it I thought it was a hoax. I still do. That's up to you to decide for yourself.
