Lima is full of ghosts and paranormal activity. I have seen some interesting stuff. This may sound weird, but I like going to graveyards. They are peaceful and rarely contain riff raff any city seems to have in abundance. The Greenlawn cemetery is right across from Faurot Park. This cemetery is quite haunted. I have seen things in the office, through a window, when no one was there at all. Several of the older local homes are haunted. The house I grew up in on S. W. St was / is (I would give the address but I have family still living there. ) It was never anything scary really. Whatever was there was rather protective of us. My family has seen a woman in a flowing white dress with large floppy hat float through; also family members saw a male figure in older costume
Then there would be the voices. For example: I would hear my mother call me, I'd ask ''what'' a few times, then come down from my room finally to check what she wanted and find she was deeply asleep. No one else was in the house. She has had the same thing hearing my voice and she comes up the stairs and I was sound asleep. This place is riddled with spirits. I have only had a couple ''fear for my life'' scary stuff happen here in Lima.
There is a house on S. Elizabeth that has something very bad in the place. Actually there is that one and another a block north of that house that has spirits of people who were murdered there. Now that one I get from my best friend. She's more sensitive to certain things than I am, or well stuff different than what I am sensitive to. There were 2 women, a woman and her daughter, that were murdered in a house just past St. Johns overpass. They do not know they are dead. I wish someone would help them to their next phase of the journey. The house I believe is off the northbound lane. While I do not believe all the bs about cry baby bridge off Greely chapel road. That road definitely has an eerie feel to it. Only go down that if you've shielded yourselves, if not your entire vehicle. Better safe than sorry I figure.
I know there are more. I have heard in passing, but I do not remember the details. I know there are certain areas I prefer not be in. The one place I would love to do a ghost hunting expedition to would be the TB hospital. I bet there are some seriously unhappy spirits there. Another one was the old children's home that is now part of the grounds of the new high school. That place, I would not go into even in the daytime. If there was a tornado coming? I'd have to sit down and think about entering that place for safety or just enduring the tornado. Also off Main St. , near the railroad tracks, there are old railroad buildings, and I figure they could use exploring. I was reluctant to enter the place because I had my children with me, and the roof looked to be caving in, but the feel of the place was… not harmful intent, but very much active. Near there is what looks to be a 6ft-foundation wall of what was once a building. I had my mom's pickup truck and being curious sort. I jumped into the bed of the truck and looked over the edge. There was a small park. There was a sand circle, a tree to the north and a bench to the south, where the sand circle ended was grass. It was quite pretty but appeared abandoned. I have always wondered why someone would make a park behind a wall with no entrance. That always seemed a bit off to me. it is now overgrown inside, but, I still wonder why someone would put that there. The buildings are roughly towards the railroad tracks almost directly behind Louie's bar. Mind there is a road between the bar and the buildings... And they are a bit north of where the bar is located. But still.
There are a few housing areas that are active. Where we live now has a lot of poltergeist activities, well not my place so much. I smudge it regularly and put a salt circle around the area we tend to inhabit, inside and out. But I have heard a few stories about the place. When you enter the driveway, it is like there is a weight on your chest. It stays with me until I enter my apartment and then whoosh, I feel immediately better. I have heard tell that the place was built on Native American burial grounds, but I do not put much store in that. Also I have heard the place is built above Limestone, which I hear tell holds negative emotions better. To me, the place seems to have soaked up the despair, hatred, uncaring, unhappiness of people who have lived here.
Over on south Metcalf there are 3 houses on the right side, just off of Elm St. All 3 were, weird, but I got to live in the one that seemed to have the harmful stuff in it. My child and I lived there oh about 18 years ago. The place was divided into 2 apartments. The closet of my son's room, well every person who came to my place had a different experience there. They all saw what scared them most. One girl who was deadly afraid of ants saw the walls crawling with them, I saw blood covered walls, and another friend saw a huge bag like creature with red eyes. My child used to love playing in the closet even though he had an ice big room to play in. I put a bunch of stuff in there and kept my kid out of it. We were there the longest of anyone who has lived in it before and after we moved in. We were there roughly a year, year and a half. Now? They do not keep people in there more than 3-6 months, no longer. I know most of this is personal accounts and just ''feelings'' but dig it, gods gave us instincts for a reason - Survival- so I go with that. My friends and I are more open minded than a lot of folks, so we do tend to see and experience more than most... Just the way it is. If I hear or think of any more, I'll let cha'all know. Cheers!.
