My roommate slept in the street-side half of the top floor while I slept in the back half. Sometimes I would Wake up before Dawn hearing a horse pulling a wagon down Putnam st. It was unmistakenly Clear with the sound of horse's hoofs and wagon wheels on the Brick street. One     night I heard the noise again and knowing that my roommate was out-of-town I went to his room and looked out the window to see this horse and wagon. I could still hear it but could see nothing. And the big Surprise that I never took note of in the daylight... Putnam st. Is black-topped!.
