When I was around 13 years of age my family lived in a stone house on South Garfield. We lived there only a year. The main floor of house was OK, but upstairs was not at all comfortable. The bathroom was upstairs. I was so creeped out. I wouldn't go up to the bathroom unless my mom was at the bottom of the stairs. Then I would run up the stairs to use the bathroom as fast as humanly possible. Then I would run back down the stairs.
The upstairs lights would flicker and turn on and off. The TV in my bedroom would turn on and off, or the volume would be normal. Then all of a sudden it would get extremely loud. You could hear walking up in the attic. There was a stair case that led to the attic that you would hear footsteps on. At first my mom didn't believe us kids, but one night it was so loud up in there that my mom woke up and heard it. Let's just say we moved about two months later. My folks sold the house.

My husband and I deliver the Hawkeye on South Hill. We have seen quite a few things. First sighting was on S. Garfield. It was a calm fall day, and we each had a paper to deliver on each side of the street, but as we were getting ready to leave the car we noticed a tall bush was bent completely over. We sat and watched to see if a storm was moving in, or the wind had picked up, but there was nothing. We just kind of blew it off; a few months later we saw it again. Only this time we could see an outline of something moving in the bush. It was like looking at the heat rising off of concrete. The bush was bent over, and we could see a very tall image forming. That was the last time we experienced that.
Another story comes from West Avenue. My husband and my son were heading up to Caseys and saw a very tall creature jump off the roof of a house.
Now over on Angular I was walking part of a route and saw a creature sitting in front of a house. I was scared, but it just sat there. (I am from Iowa, and I know this was no animal. ) A month later this house caught fire. I don't think anyone was hurt.
