Fort Dodge, Iowa Ghost Tales | |
|
|
There is an old tale about a Fort Dodge house that leads to a whole lot of ghosts: Alex Foxx was a little girl that lived in a one-room house on a rich woman's backyard. The girl and her family made friends with Mrs. Ross, the woman. The problem with Alex was that she acted like a boy. She wanted to go scouting like boys. She wanted to play baseball, but at the time girls were not allowed to play baseball. Her aunt, who lived in Idaho noticed this and sent her a baseball bat that had Alex carved into it. One time, while playing outside, some boys starting messing with her and she swung the bat and swung it too hard. She didn't hit the boys, but she kept swinging around with the bat. She hit a fence with a long nail sticking out of it. SHe fell forward, into a well. Recently, her bones were found. After she died, her parents went crazy. Her father started robbing cigars and smoking them and he was hung for that. Her mother killed one of her sisters and her best friend. She lost her head for that. Her other sister and her brother commited suicide.
