Spirit Lake, Iowa Ghost Tales | |
|
Just returned from a week at Village West Resort. Heard children talking within our condo, lights flashing across the walls and ceilings. And on the way home radio volume kept going all the way up on it's own. One in our party also had terrible dreams about people breaking in and torturing us. I went with a group of friends in 2001 looking for ghosts around spirit lake.? We had heard stories about people there being cursed by the Indians or something like that, it was a good enough reason for us to go on a road trip. We got there late in the evening and started walking around the lakes not really knowing what we were doing except trying to find a burial ground.? After a few hours we realized we weren't at the right place, and with some help from the locals we were on our way.? We started walking through what I remember as being a wheat field and all of a sudden people jumped out and scared the crap out of us. They were also going to the burial ground and

had mistaken us for a different group of people they were waiting to ambush.? It turns out there is an old pioneer burial ground up on a hill near the lake.? The headstones are all hand carved into rocks and scattered amongst a group of tall trees.? Besides being historically interesting, the only evidence I could find that might verify the rumor of

a curse was the high number of children buried.? If you find this place check out the weird number of families who have lost three or more children all in a row. Submitted by anonymous Categories: burial_ground, native_american, field
We lived in an old cabin in Spirit Lake that was haunted by a man who had hung himslef in the basement. We heard strange noises from the basement, objects would dispappear from our nightstand and dresser, pictures would repeatedly fall off the walls, our cat would hiss at the wall for no reason. Spirit Lake, Iowa is just like any other place during the day, but this city is haunted by the undeceased after sunset. Some of the departed don't want to rest in peace in this city. Disbelievers don't believe in the local ghost testimonies, but if you have the nerve to stay overnight in Spirit Lake, you may very well observe a ghost for yourself.
These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently.

menacing beast can be seen over and over again downing gasoline down a desolate highway next to Spirit Lake at the stroke of midnight. No matter what, it is certainly a creepy ghost that any wise person would not want to come across.
