Sound like an Echo in the basement. I thought it was the old radiators or the pipes. The first Winter here I thought nothing of it but it happens even in the summer when the old boiler is completely shut down. Never any noise during the Day even when it's on. I've listened Many times and it's always after 2:00 a. M. Around the time bats     tend to show up. The cats and dog here often get riled as if they see or hear something that isn't there or at least something I can't see. Now and then people who visit Tell me that they catch movement from the corner of their eye as they sit in any room. Almost like a faint shadow that disappears before you can turn to look. And maybe it's just a draft now and then but a chill goes through the house. I am glad to be finally leaving this house.
