I took my six-year old daughter into the women's bathroom at Coborns in Elk River, MN. As we entered the bathroom I saw a person enter a stall and shut the door. I did not get a good look at her/him because I was talking to my daughter at the time. I waited in front of the stalls while my daughter went in and waited for her to come out. When she came out I was wondering why the other person never came out and looked under the stalls. There was no-one in them. I pushed open the doors on both stalls my daughter had not been in, and they were both empty. There are only three stalls, I would definitely have seen someone come out of one, especially since I was standing right in front of them waiting for my daughter to come out. Creepy.

Johnson's Department Store in Elk River is a place that has always made me uncomfortable. The store had two full floors and a basement. The basement housed menswear. The main floor was women's and shoes with the top floor being children's, infants, and fabrics. It had a grand stair case in the back left corner. As a child we would shop there when we needed something quick and didn't have time to run into the cities. I liked going to the store but hated the basement. It had low ceilings compared the other two floors. It always made me nauseous and dizzy to be down there, so I'd often sit at the top of the steps while my brother and parents went down stairs.
As an adult when Johnson's closed and opened as an antique store I would venture downstairs to browse. I found I could spend only a short time down there before a heavy dizzy nauseating feeling would come over me. The longer I spent, the more I would feel like I couldn't breathe. I just always passed it off to being an old building. Years later I discovered that before it was Johnson's Department Store it had been Dares Department store on one half and Dares Funeral Home on the other side. The embalming room was in the basement. Since then I have seen others comment on the same feelings on several other social media sites.

Comment by Aniram: I'm guessing you're referring to what is now antiques downtown? My boyfriend and I just moved here and I have been there a few times I'm glad you shared. Definitely has a super creepy vibe with all the little closet-like rooms which is part of what I love so much about it.
Thinking back to it I also got a bit nauseated and light headed especially after going into the basement but I thought it was just because of pregnancy at the time. It's almost like a museum more than an antique shop, it just has such a unique feel to it.
I'll be sure not to spend too much time there at once though now!.
