Google for images of the house specially ones predating the 1900s. The basement was unfinished and decrepit. The main floor was the only one we used for the attic was far to much of a hot spot. When I was 8 my hand was slammed in an open window, the counterweight cord just replaced by my father had cut clean and smashed my fingers.
I hated the attic after that day. When I was 7 I laid in bed when my night light went on, I opened my eyes and the silhouette

of a man in a brimmed hat and suit was cast against the wall. Constant steps can be heard from the attic.
I can't recall my age but during the

summer home alone peering into the basement revealed a shadowed depiction of what would appear to be a late Victorian woman in fear, I ran away. During the Sioux uprising the property acted as a safe zone and a makeshift clinic; city rumor when I was growing up is a man was buried under the ash tree in the back yard.
The sight on the silhouetted man became less of a rarity over time, the ash tree visible from the kitchen window was most common. My
