Hey all, I am on deployment right now, got bored and decided to do more research on the Vergas trails. I wanted to clear a lot of things up, and share a few stories of my own. So here it goes.
My whole family is from Vergas, MN. So growing up I heard all of these stories. My cabin is on Loon Lake close to all of my relatives. The first time I went to the trails I believe I was about fourteen of fifteen. It was me, my two sisters, and my now brother- in-law. That is everyone I believe. Well, we headed into the trails right next to my uncle (not blood, just good friend) Dewey's place. Going in at night in the middle of the summer you will automatically get creeped out, especially going deeper in the trails. The trees blocked out any light that the night gave off, so this was a very eerie feeling. My little sister was under the seat the whole time (haha). She was beyond scared. From my memory nothing really happened that night. We visited the cemetery, which was very spooky, and just drove up and down unknown trails. Like I said, nothing happened that night.
Well that summer we visited the trails almost every weekend we went to the lakes. Too many times to remember. I specifically remember going during the day with my cousin in my truck, just so we could get an idea of all the trails, so we would not get lost at night. We met a sweet old lady at the graveyard that day that was out exploring with her friends. She told us a few stories, which were not unknown to us. It was a very interesting day.
I think the first time I really experienced something was with my cousin again. We were out there at dusk, and we took a left on ''Vergas Trail. '' We took my truck through a lot of really rough trails (I believe these kinds of trails are the only ones you will really find anything on) and after a while we ended up at an old abandoned shack. Right there we saw the infamous red trucks. We believed this is where he lives. That night we went out to the same area, more sooner than later this truck was right behind us and chased us out of the trails. I do not believe this truck to be a ''ghost truck'' just a person who is sick of intruders on his land, so he chases them away to scare them. I am sure for the pure entertainment for himself (it is fun to scare people I believe. I would do the same thing. )
Now the story of the dogs. These dogs are not ''ghost dogs'', but I believe they are very aggressive. We were out in the trails one night, passed a farmstead, and they came out of nowhere, barking, drooling, and jumping on my truck. It still scared me and my brother-n-law, but we simply just drove away trying not to run one of them over. We have run into these dogs a few different times. There are two of them. Maybe three.
As for the cemetery, I have been there multiple times, because the cemetery is the easiest to find. None of the times did we experience anything, except one evening. We were just walking around in it reading headstones and what not when we heard footsteps in the trees surrounding the cemetery area. Now I have been in the woods and outdoors all my life, and I am an avid hunter, so I know the difference between a four legged mammal, rodents and people. These footsteps were of a humanoid mammal. Not saying it was the hairy man, or satanic cults men. We never saw what was making the footsteps, but as we noticed the footsteps. They went from walking to running, so we ran out there as fast as we could and went down the backside entrance of the hill (now blocked off by a big rock. ) That was about the only experience we had there.
