Dillon, Montana Ghost Tales

Some of the admissions of stories on this site are obvious fabrications, others are very believable. I swear, this happened to me. I love photography, with a Montana and outdoors theme. A couple winters ago, I visisted Bannack on a cold, winter day. Bannack was the first territorial capital capitol of Montana, in 1863. It is now a ghost town, and national historic site. I took several cameras with me, both digital and 35 MM. Most of the day went well, I got some great nostalgic pics. But something really strange happened in the old Meade Hotel. The Meade was buit in 1875, originally used as a county courthouse. Eventually, it was turned into a hotel, and was used until the town was abandoned. The building is reputed to be haunted, but I was not into ghost hunting at the time, and was there for the sole purpose of photography. I took a Sony Mavica into the building, and spent about an hour and a half. Took quite a few photos. With this camera, you fill the disk, then finalise it, then view the pics on a computer or whatever. I experienced a very coolness
in an upstairs room, much cooler than the outside temperature. Also, I caught faint glimpses of some movement from the corner of my eye. When I got close to filling the disk, I attempted to finalize it, while still in the old building. The disk failed to finalise, and the battery also went dead. I had kept the camera inside my jacket to keep it warm,
it had always worked well in winter as long as I protected it from the cold. The total disk was erased, and a failure code appeared. The camera has functioned flawlessly before and since this incident, I corresponded with Sony, and they had no explanation. There was no way to recover the pictures. I am now a believer.

Near my hometown of Dillon is a lake that was formed on the Beaverhead River, the lake is called The Clark Canyon Reservoir, the dam was completed in 1964. The town of Armstead was inundated by water when the lake filled. At times, while night fishing, faint lights can be seen under the water where the town was. If a person disturbs this part of the lake too much while the lights are visible, the boat will be rocked by violent waves, even when the lake is otherwise calm. This is quite frightening, but the good fishing keeps us going back.
