I am a life long resident of the East Fork area of the Bitterroot Valley, and have spent much of my life in the outdoors. Late one night, while on a hunting trip, I was in the hunting camp, and I woke up to some very strange sounds. I started walking around, looking for the source of the strange noises. I finally found it. I approached the edge of a meadow, and crossing the meadow was semi-transparent wagons, mules mule drivers,

and dogs. There were 5 or 6 wagons, and I could hear all of the sounds. It was a full moon, and I could see clearly. The sounds were of the

mule's hooves, the wagons creeking along, the voices and commands of the mule drivers, and dogs barking. I watched for several minutes, then the whole procession just vanished, and the sounds died away. I have asked old timers around the area, and they said that this area was on a frieght root over the mountain pass in the late 1800's. I have never camped in this area since then, and I never will.
