There have been lots of encounters with spirits from another realm. Skeptics don't have faith in the local ghost stories, but the things that happen here in Tappen in the night time will frighten you. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. The ghost of a young cowboy is every so often distinguished by Lake George Dam North Unit at midnight staring at the water. The phantom of a zinc-miner has been said to have been observed on a small number of instances pulling a       body over the grass in Streeter Memorial State Park at the stroke of midnight. According to what the residents claim, this ghost is almost certainly the tormented ghost of a person who used to have a house here in Tappen. A lady with a half translucent body has repeatedly been observed hollowing out a hole in Beaver Lake State Park right by   the ranger station. Scores of residents claim this phantom is the tormented soul of a former Tappen local. The ghost of a security guard with a bullet hole in his forehead is often seen in a mirror in a Tappen flat; the phantom was solely to be seen in the mirror. Locals here who have spotted this phantom claim this phantom is that of a resident who settled here in Tappen some time ago.
