Valley City, North Dakota Ghost Tales Rumor has it that the old broken road is haunted by a ghost dog. A few people have said they'd seen a dog with red glowing eyes come at them, when it gets right in front of them it dissapears. It may be a rumor but considering that other stranger things have happened in this town it might be true. Submitted by Landon In my mother's house on the southeast side of town, the light on the fireplace has gone on and off since my mother moved in. It is reportedly the ghost of the previous owner. Night time is living dead time in this town. Folks who have never stayed overnight in this settlement will       say to you it's a pack of lies, but if you have the nerve to stay for the night in Valley City, you might notice a phantom for yourself. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A man with no head has repeatedly been spotted hitch-hiking alongside a dark highway next to Valley City. An   extremely creepy spirit is regularly made out slurping gasoline from a pump at a gas station in Valley City. The phantom of an old gold digger with a big mustache and a hook instead of his left hand has supposedly been observed on several occasions at Anderson Dam around midnight shifting orbs around. The ghost of a waitress may often be seen crying out names of people by Adams Slough. One thing is for guaranteed, it's a menacing spirit that you do not want to encounter around midnight. The spirit of an aged Indian chief may be noticed very frequently in Faust Park late in the night dragging a cadaver through some bushes. Locals here who have perceived this phantom allege this phantom is probably the stressed phantom of a resident who used to have a house here in Valley City. The ghost of an elderly cleaning lady has every now and then been observed pointing at the bystander right by the entrance to Ft. Ransom State Park. Whichever way, it sure is a scary ghost that you shouldn't go seeking. The ghost of a young-looking female clad as a maid is once in a while observed speaking into the air as if somebody else was present.
