Burke, South Dakota Ghost Tales My daughter saw a ghost of an old woman sitting on her bed in a downstairs bedrom  when she would wake up at night. This only happened in this room, she could sleep undisturbed in any other room of the house.  She was moved to this room when she was about 3 years old.  She would wake up and see the woman, take a blanket and sleep in the living room without a problem.  She told me about the woman a few times before we moved her into another bedroom.  She didn't talk like she was afraid, but she didn't like to wake up with the woman watching her.  . Submitted by Former Burke resident       Categories: home, lady Voices could be heard outside a farmhouse east of Burke Lake in the 1980s.  Cattle mutilations were also in that area from the 1970s through 1980s.  A older farmer has visited the farm and as a small child I once seen sitting by my bed.
