Hill City, South Dakota Ghost Tales    Today, 3/14/09, my mom and I were driving around the backroads of Hill City and stopped to take a picture of a very scary house. There was no cars, and the windows were empty and mostly covered up with old curtains. I was already freaked out, and we took three pictures and continued on past the house. I took a look at the pictures afterwards and saw a woman like figure standing in the window. My mom has the other two images on her computer but I have this one.   We plan on driving back there tomorrow. The ghost was not there when the picture was taken. Rugs turn about, talk out of nowhere. Not everyone trusts in the testimonies the folks who live here tell, but the phantoms of Hill City are out tonight searching for somebody to scare. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. The ghost of a guy holding a blood-covered axe is often spotted on the summit of Castle Peak in the early morning hours surveying the view. In any event, it sure is a chilling ghost that you wouldn't wish to come across very late at night. An army outfit marching about lacking a body in it has been said to have been noticed on many instances in Bearcat Gulch before sunrise destroying a box. Lots of locals allege this ghost is the ghost of a vacationer that was murdered while journeying through Hill City in the past.
